A Burundian pastor has appeared in court after allegedly stabbing the sister of South African comedian Pastor Mjosty more than 40 times. The case links to the March and March anti-immigration movement. Furthermore, the suspect and the victim had a prior romantic relationship and she had obtained a protection order against him about a year before the attack. As a result, the case has become one of the most shocking crimes to emerge from the tensions surrounding the 30 June protests.

Burundian Pastor Pastor Mjosty Sister Stabbing: What Happened

March and March leader Nhlanhla Ngobese-Zuma said she received a distress call from Pastor Mjosty about the attack on his sister. The alleged motive links to Pastor Mjosty’s public support for the March and March movement. After March and March publicly recognised his support, the Burundian pastor allegedly contacted the victim to question why her brother backed the organisation. The victim allegedly said her brother was free to support whoever he chose. Furthermore, the pastor later went to the woman’s home and allegedly stabbed her more than 40 times before attacking her daughter. As a result, a neighbour chased the suspect and alerted police, leading to his arrest.

The victim was fighting for her life in hospital after the attack. Her daughter was also hurt in the same incident. Furthermore, March and March revealed the suspect and victim had previously been in a romantic relationship. She had obtained a protection order against him about a year before the stabbing. The movement alleged the pastor later resumed contact, accusing her of ending the relationship because her brother disapproved of him. As a result, the alleged motive combines a romantic dispute with political tensions over immigration.

The Suspect in Hospital After Alleged Suicide Attempt

After his arrest, the pastor allegedly tried to take his own life in police custody. He is currently under police guard in hospital. March and March also said he has been behaving erratically since his arrest. Furthermore, SAPS confirmed a suspect was arrested in connection with the attempted murder. As a result, court proceedings are underway while the suspect remains under guard in hospital.

Who Is Pastor Mjosty

Pastor Mjosty is a popular South African comedian and social media personality. He built a large following through humorous content about church life and South African culture. Furthermore, his public support for the March and March movement drew both praise and criticism. As a result, his name became associated with the immigration debate before his family became the target of a brutal attack linked to that very association.

The March and March Connection to the Pastor Mjosty Stabbing

March and March is the anti-immigration movement that set the 30 June 2026 deadline for undocumented foreign nationals to leave South Africa. The movement staged protests in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and other cities. Furthermore, March and March publicly recognised figures who voiced support for their campaign, including Pastor Mjosty. As a result, his public endorsement allegedly triggered the chain of events that led to the attack on his sister.

The attack shows the real-world consequences of the political tensions surrounding the June 2026 immigration protests. A woman was stabbed more than 40 times allegedly because her brother backed a political movement. Her daughter was also attacked. As a result, the human cost of those tensions extends far beyond the protests themselves.

What Happens Next
