Residents in Parklands, Cape Town, are shaken after the body of a woman was found near Parkhill Place this weekend. Anti crime activist Yusuf Abramjee shared a video of the scene, which is now circulating widely on social media.

The footage shows several police vehicles parked on a grassy verge beside a boundary wall, close to an apartment complex. Officials can be seen working at the scene as the body is prepared for removal.

However, many questions remain unanswered. So far, police have not publicly confirmed the woman’s identity, her age or how she died.

Police yet to confirm details after Parklands woman body found

At the time of writing, police had not released a statement on the discovery. It is also not yet clear whether police are treating the case as a murder or an inquest.

Typically, forensic pathology officials collect a body so that a post mortem can establish the cause of death. Police then use those findings to decide how to proceed with the case.

Meanwhile, the video has sparked concern online, with many users calling for answers and justice for the woman. Abramjee regularly shares crime footage from across the country, and his posts often draw large public reactions. Some social media users have also urged anyone who may know the woman to come forward and help identify her.

The discovery comes at a time of heightened fear among women across South Africa. In Gauteng, police are investigating the deaths of ten women found in Ekurhuleni since July. Just last November, government declared gender based violence and femicide a national disaster.

Still, police have not suggested any link between the Parklands case and incidents elsewhere in the country.

For now, anyone with information about the Parklands woman body found near Parkhill Place can report it at their nearest police station.
