Businessman Solomon Madibela, popularly known as MySol, has obtained an interim court order against podcaster MacG and businessman Benjamin Maponya. The MySol interdict follows an explosive Podcast and Chill episode in which Maponya spoke about his fallout with Madibela.

The High Court in Johannesburg granted the order this week. It bars MacG, whose real name is Macgyver Mukwevho, and Maponya from publishing, broadcasting or distributing the statements that Madibela considers defamatory. The order also covers anyone acting on their instructions, and it applies to the podcast as well as any other platform.

In addition, the court ordered Maponya to remove posts about Madibela and his company from his X account within two hours of receiving the order. Madibela’s legal team has since served the order on both men.

What the MySol interdict means

The order is interim, which means it is not a final ruling. Instead, it stays in place until the court hears the matter in full. Madibela has until 13 October to add to his court papers. After that, on 22 October, MacG and Maponya must return to court and explain why the interdict should not become final.

Importantly, the interdict does not decide whether any of Maponya’s claims are true or false. The court will deal with those questions at a later stage.

The dispute began when Maponya, who runs B Maponya Holdings, appeared on Podcast and Chill with MacG and co host Sol Phenduka. The episode aired on Wednesday, 8 October. During the interview, Maponya broke three years of public silence about his relationship with Madibela.

Maponya described Madibela as a former close friend and business partner. According to Maponya, the two men worked together on a mining venture in the North West before the relationship broke down over money and control of the business. He told the hosts that he had documents to support his version. He also said he feared for his safety and the safety of his family after speaking out.

Shortly before the interview, Maponya shared a Facebook post in which he said he had trusted Madibela with his life. He added that the two had once been like brothers.

Madibela has not publicly commented on the claims. Similarly, MacG has not said whether the podcast will remove the episode, although posts on social media claimed the interview remained online after the deadline passed.

Meanwhile, commentary across social media platforms remains divided. Some users question Maponya’s credibility, while others back his decision to speak out. Many have also debated how far podcasts should go when guests make serious claims about people who are not present to respond.

This is not the first time Podcast and Chill has found itself at the centre of controversy. However, it is one of the few cases in which a court has stepped in to stop the spread of statements made on the show.
